Third Quarter

It's hard to believe that we are already half way through this school year. The start of a new quarter/semester is a good time to evaluate our progress so far, as well as to set goals for the remainder of the year. Parents, please encourage your student(s) to practice their instrument so that they are able to make a positive contribution to the band. To aid in this process, I am requiring all students to record practice time this quarter and I thank you in advance to helping to make that happen!

The Countdown Has Begun!

Welcome to 4th Quarter! As we start looking ahead to the end of the year, I want to encourage the students to keep practicing those instruments as we prepare for the spring concert in May. It's also a good time to refocus our energies into working together as a group so we can perform our best. In addition to our spring concert in May, the band and choir have been invited to provide the worship service at the Kennewick church on April 30. This performance will primarily contain music we performed on our tour. While only one local church performance is required per semester, students who participate in extra church performances will receive extra credit. Remember to take in a community concert for this semester if you have not yet done so. (Students in both band and choir will need one for each.) For those who don't want to look too far, the UCA Band/Choraliers will be presenting an assembly at the school on April 8. You won't want to miss it!

Band/Choir Tour

The band and choir are scheduled to leave on tour to the Yakima valley on Friday, March 3 at 9 a.m. Final arrangements have been made for transportation and all the details are in place! I'm looking forward to a fun-filled weekend. Please pray for the students that God will use us to be a blessing to those we share our music with.

Mid-Year Concert

Thank you for your support of our mid-year movie concert! It was a fun evening, the students performed well, and the popcorn was a big hit! Thanks for spending the evening with us! Thanks also to those who willingly furnished the delicious goodies!

Fall Concert

The Fall Concert was a great success -- what a fun evening! Thank you, students, for your hard work and determination to do well. Thank you, parents, for encouraging your student to learn their individual parts. Played or sung separately, each part doesn't seem so significant, but when all parts are played/sung together, what beautiful music they make!

Thank you also for the delicious goodies that we enjoyed at the conclusion of the program! Have a great vacation and Happy Thanksgiving!

Choir Clinic

The list of music has just arrived for choir clinic which will be held on the campus of Upper Columbia Academy in January. Now is a good time to start thinking about whether or not you would like to attend. Remember that you have to qualify to participate!

Welcome to the Music Room!

It's hard to believe that we are already five weeks into the first quarter! This not only means that we are half way done with this first quarter, but that we are getting close to our first performance at the Richland SDA Church on Sabbath, October 23. Advanced Band and Choir have been working on songs for this all-school church service. Please encourage your student to continue practicing so that we will be well prepared. Please also be praying that God will use our talents to be a blessing to others.
